MURDER IS NO ACCIDENT AUDIO
Violence is preventable, not inevitable. The proof can be found in the story of two Boston-based public health officials' efforts to break one city from its cycle of killing. In their newest book, Murder is No Accident: Understanding and Preventing Youth Violence in America, Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith and Dr. Howard Spivak document Boston's success. In March 2004, these national experts came to California to share their knowledge documented in the book.
Prevention Institute sponsored these three events in Los Angeles (co-sponsored by The Friends of the Violence Prevention Coalition of Los Angeles), in Richmond (co-sponsored by Eco-Village Farm Center and Kaiser Permanente) and in Oakland (co-sponsored by Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley and Kaiser Permenente).
