David Henry F. Dixon (he/they) is an Associate Program Manager working on the Healthy Equitable Committees team. Based in Oakland, he specializes in California statewide policy initiatives and works on collaborative projects between the government and philanthropic sectors to operationalize equity in policymaking, public administration, and grantmaking.

David joins Prevention Institute with over a decade of organizing experience, centered at the intersection of racial and economic justice. He believes that people and communities cannot truly thrive unless they have good food and good jobs. His thought partnership and strategic campaign leadership has resulted in groundbreaking electoral victories across North and South Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, and most recently Berkeley, CA.

With core values rooted in Black queer feminist theory, David holds an understanding that white supremacy, capitalism, and toxic masculinity are the most dangerous threats to communal wellbeing. He approaches his work with a belief that by making advancements around the mental health of men, Black and Brown men specifically, we will see generational improvements across community and inter-partner violence.

David earned a dual Bachelor of Arts in History and Africana Studies with a Minor in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also holds a Master of Public Affairs from UC Berkeley where his research explored the intersection of reparations and philanthropy.
