Sofia (she/her) is a Program Assistant for the Safety and Wellbeing team. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Cognitive Science and minors in Disability Studies and Public Policy. Sofia spent two years as a peer health educator, during which she facilitated workshops on health advocacy, sexual health, and domestic violence prevention. Her background in youth development and family planning inspired her to co-create an HIV prevention program plan based in rural Lesotho, and author a public policy memorandum highlighting period poverty among low-income menstruators within California. Sofia is delighted to be a part of Prevention Institute’s team and looks forward to supporting the development of healthy and empowered communities.
