Reducing Injury: Health Equity
Communities Taking Action is a collection of profiles that showcase successful community initiatives aimed at improving health equity. Prevention Institute places equity at the center of its approach to injury prevention by prioritizing training, strategy development, and implementation in the most vulnerable communities. These profiles, listed below, are examples of communities that have successfully reduced the occurrence of injuries and related deaths through changes to the built environment, local policy, and community-based advocacy. Through these initiatives, local communities have helped to promote safe routes to school and work; have revitalized paths to commercial districts; and helped to shape community norms that promote active transportation through walking, bicycling, and related means.
