BAY AREA GREEN BUSINESS PROGRAM

Prevention Institute officially became a green business, certified by the Bay Area Green Business Program, in 2004. Some of the changes include a commitment to using no toxic products; a reduction of paper use and print-outs; a recycling and composting program; and energy conservation by using area-specific lighting (lighting only where needed). Also, all future changes to our business will continue to move us in the green direction, such as purchasing energy-efficient machinery and appliances when needed. This is beneficial for a variety of reasons: it is beneficial to the environment -- our long term goal; it creates a healthier work environment for our employees; and it reduces cost by saving on energy bills, paper use, and generally improved efficiency. Additionally, becoming a green business is consistent with our principles of prevention here at Prevention Institute.
