The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) will soon be hosting public participation workshops to gather input for the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS).  The development of the SCS provides an opportunity for public health leaders to play a key role in encouraging healthy, sustainable growth in Southern California.

Join us at this free training to learn about opportunities to engage in SB 375 and the Sustainable Communities Strategy and how public health advocates can embed health, safety and equity in long-term transportation planning.  The event also provides the opportunity to connect with other advocates and groups working in the fields of health, transportation, and environmental protection throughout the state.

Health in All Policies Resources

Building and sustaining healthy communities requires diverse sectors working together. Health in All Policies (HiAP) is a proactive approach that incorporates health and safety considerations into public policy and decision making. Under the auspices of the Strategic Growth Council, the Health in All Policies Task Force is comprised of representatives from 19 state agencies who are charged with the task of  "identifying priority programs, policies, and strategies to improve the health of Californians." Below are resources about HiAP in general and about implementation in California specifically:
  • Health in All Policies Task Force Report
  • Health in All Policies 2011 Legislation
  • Health in All Policies 2-page Overview
  • Health in All Policies Public Workshop Flyer
