Texting? Walk
Those of us in the injury-prevention field know that there is really no such thing as a traffic "accident" ("Cells and texting cause 28 percent of traffic crashes," Jan. 13).

Crashes are extremely predictable and preventable. Texting or using a cell phone while driving certainly contributes to crashes and injuries. So does the fact that we are increasingly over-reliant on our cars.

The best solution to driving while texting? Investing in community infrastructure that allows us all to walk, bike and use public transit to get to where we need. We would all be not only safer but healthier also.
