Planning for Healthy Communities: Advocating for Equity in Planning Decisions
CPEHN would like to invite you to our fall convening, Planning for Healthy Communities: Advocating for Equity in Planning Decisions. This workshop will focus on the impact of economic development, the general plan, and zoning regulations on community health, and how you can get involved. From increasing access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity to improving air and water quality, learn how to apply these strategies to create healthier environments.
This interactive workshop will include opportunity for peer-to-peer learning and networking. The training will be conducted by staff of Public Health Law and Policy's Planning for Healthy Places project.
The session will provide participants with:
- Basic land-use and local economic development vocabulary,
- An understanding of the intersection between public health and land-use and economic development decisions, and
- Opportunities for public health professionals and advocates to influence the development of the built environment.

Active Living Research Conference

The sixth Active Living Research Annual Conference is being held February 18 - 20, 2009 in downtown San Diego, CA. The theme for the 2009 conference is Active Communities for Youth and Families: Creating Momentum for Change. The conference agenda will contain a variety of breakfast roundtable discussions, keynote speaker, plenary and
concurrent presentations, as well as panel presentations.
