The UNITY Peer Learning Forum creates opportunities for training, technical assistance and networking to members of the UNITY City Network and their local partners. The UNITY Peer Learning Forum is an arena for sharing the best practices of cities across the U.S. Participants in Forum events work with UNITY staff, subject matter experts, and learn from each other. The UNITY Peer Learning Forum uses interactive webinar technology to cover priority topics related to preventing violence. The five UNITY Peer Learning Forum topics for 2011-2012 are:
- Bullying Prevention
- Engaging Community
- Funding Strategies
- Trauma-Informed Approaches
- Multi-Sector Collaboration
The Bullying Prevention series is scheduled for September to December 2011, and will cover:
- School-based bullying prevention principles and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Local examples of engaging the broader community to prevent bullying off campus.
- Shared strategies for preventing bullying and other kinds of violence. Core elements of leadership, partnerships, coordination, and evaluation.
- Building skills for engaging diverse sectors to prevent bullying in schools and beyond, such as making the case to potential partners.
- Trends, funding and next steps. The links between bullying, learning, health and safety.
