Prevention Institute is facilitating a series of web conferences and online dialogues through Prevention Connection, a national project of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA), funded by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Prevention Connection builds the capacity of local, state, territorial, national and tribal agencies and organizations to prevent violence against women. Since March 2005, Prevention Connection has reached over 1,000 participants with tools and skill-building on topics such as changing norms and underlying determinants related to violence against women, developing integrated community strategies, and fostering strategic partnerships. Prevention Connection partners include the California Department of Health Services - EPIC, Communities Against Violence Network, the National Electronic Network on Violence Against Women, and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center

"The lack of a unifying vision and clear definitions has hampered programs around the country. Your presentation is excellent for any center or coalition entering the field of primary prevention.  It provides the definitions, strategies, and vision that are the foundation of primary prevention.”

- Web Forum Participant

“The positive attitude of 'we can do this' if we work together and this is how we can do it: was very useful. A breath of fresh air.”

What Is A Web Conference?

A web conference is an opportunity to attend a workshop by calling on your phone and watching a presentation from your computer screen using only your regular internet connection. If for some reason you are unable to join on your computer, you can print out slides of presentations and listen along on the phone.

For more information about web conferences, contact: David S. Lee, MPH, Prevention Connection Manager at 916-446-2520x309 or David@calcasa.org.
