Prevention Institute Supports Tobacco Prevention
Prevention Institute supports efforts that protect Californians from the harmful effects of tobacco use. Initiatives that prevent smoking and reduce exposure to second-hand smoke save lives, protect workers, reduce suffering and save our state millions of dollars each year in costs associated with tobacco-related illness and treatment. Proposition 29, sponsored by American Heart Association, American Lung Association and American Cancer Society, would increase the tax rate on cigarettes--a strategy designed to lower smoking rates. California voters will have an opportunity to vote on Prop 29 in the June 5 election.
