As Earth Day approaches, Prevention Institute founder and Executive Director Larry Cohen emphasizes that we must protect the environment to preserve public health:
“There is no question that the health of our environment is tied to the health of our people. Climate change threatens to increase deadly weather events and vector-borne disease, and to harm the water, air, and soil we need to survive and thrive. Communities of color and low-income, the elderly, and young children are the most vulnerable to the devastating effects of climate change. That’s why Prevention Institute supports keeping the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency fully funded and staffed, and its programs maintained, at 2016 levels. Nothing is more important than health—and that starts with safeguarding the health of our planet.”
