OJJDP Training and Technical Assistance Project

Prevention Institute provided training and technical assistance to the signature violence prevention initiatives funded by the U.S. Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, OJJDP. Prevention Institute built the capacity of dozens of practitioners affiliated with:

  • The National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention
  • The Defending Childhood initiative to reduce children’s exposure to violence
  • Community-Based Violence Prevention sites that are replicating evidence-based models such as Cure Violence.

Prevention Institute has a strong track record working with these cities, communities and tribes. Several National Forum sites are long-time members of the UNITY City Network that have benefitted from Prevention Institute’s tools and guidance for more than a decade. Prevention Institute also supported the Defending Childhood initiative for several years with Futures Without Violence. For an overview of lessons learned from these eight innovative sites, read Moving Upstream to Defend Childhood.
