Produced Investing in Equity: Designing and Implementing Public Funding Programs for a Just Recovery in California to ensure the inclusion of equity and racial justice in public funding programs and infrastructure investments.
We know from experience that equitable public investing doesn’t work without intentionality and that proactive steps are necessary to ensure public investments close gaps between racial and ethnic groups and wealthy and lower-wealth communities. Investing in Equity: Designing and Implementing Public Funding Programs for a Just Recovery in California highlights specific strategies that government agencies, policymakers, and their partners can use to “bake” equity into the planning, implementation, oversight, and evaluation phases of new and existing public programs. PI applied the strategies outlined in Investing in Equity when we partnered with Napa County’s Community Leaders Coalition to successfully advocate for equity in local recovery investments of over $3 million to be distributed to address community-identified priorities including mental health, homelessness, food access, childcare, and critical support for seniors. Funders: The California Endowment and the Blue Shield of California Foundation. We appreciate the California Funders Workgroup on Prevention and Equity, which includes Blue Shield of California Foundation, the Sierra Health Foundation, The California Endowment, St. Joseph Community Partnership Fund, The California Wellness Foundation, and Well Being Trust, for their guidance and insights during the development of Investing in Equity.
