Strategic Alliance Reception at the 6th Biennial Childhood Obesity Conference

Please join us for an evening dialogue and reception marking 10 years since the Strategic Alliance was formed to create a steady drumbeat in support of healthy food and activity environments. California has been at the vanguard of policy and advocacy efforts to improve eating and activity environments for all. Now, more than ever, it’s important that we come together to ensure that all people have safe and healthy neighborhoods, especially when challenging fiscal and political times are putting effective programs, policies, and community efforts in jeopardy. Come eat, drink, socialize…and strategize!

Event: Strategic Alliance Reception
Date: June 28, 2011 Time: 6-7:30pm
Location: Gallery at the Childhood Obesity Conference – Manchester Grand Hyatt – San Diego, CA

Refreshments will be available. Please RSVP to Janet (janet@preventioninstitute.org) by June 22 to provide us with an estimate of attendees.

Letters of Support Needed for Healthy Food Procurement

AB 727 increases access to healthy foods by requiring that foods sold in vending machines, concessions, and cafeterias in state buildings meet minimum nutritional and sustainability standards. We are pleased to report that AB 727 has passed the Assembly and is now in the Senate. Now, we need your help! Let the Senate know you support healthier food options and sustainable purchasing that invests in local economies and is better for the environment.

Letters must be received by June 20th.
Download and send in a letter of support today!
