Grace Guerrero Ramirez (she/her) is an Associate Program Manager from Puerto Rico based in Oakland, where she works with the Safety and Wellbeing team at Prevention Institute.
Prior to joining Prevention Institute, Grace worked at Mathematica where she provided equity-focused technical assistance to state and federal health and social services agencies, and community organizations. For example, Grace led meetings with a workgroup of home visiting programs and advocates to identify strategies to enhance the California Department of Social Services’ Home Visiting Program. In addition, her research focused on the critical role of family, friend, and neighbors who provide childcare, how home visiting programs promote family economic wellbeing, and practices that clinics carry out to provide equitable and person-centered sexual and reproductive health services. As part of the Equity Technical Assistance Center in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Grace convened a group of partners with lived experience, facilitating monthly meetings and supporting partners as they shared their expertise with HHS offices in a range of equity topics. As a community engagement lead, Grace also supported the evaluation of a federal program to address hate crimes and other forms of violence. She prioritizes deep and sustained engagement with community members to build the foundation for thriving communities.
Grace holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
She enjoys dancing salsa, singing, and playing the accordion.
