Areas of Focus
We work across nine areas of focus to strengthen community-centered practice, advance upstream prevention, and promote health equity and racial justice.
We center community as an essential unit of transformation. Transforming community conditions is a direct pathway to health, safety, and wellbeing through thriving, equitable communities.
We strengthen prevention- and equity-centered systems by improving how policies, practices, and resources are designed and aligned. These systems produce community health, safety, and wellbeing.
We advance racial justice practice and outcomes by making them actionable. Bridging health equity and racial justice recognizes that health, safety, and wellbeing depend on racial justice.
We partner with community power-building organizations and cultivate community power ecosystems. Community power building advances health equity and racial justice.
We deepen community-led strategies that acknowledge harm, build healing and agency, and address trauma at its roots. We focus on trauma as it manifests at the community level.
We ground our approach in understanding how built-environment inequities are produced and center community power over land-use decisions to expand safe housing, clean air, greenery, transit, and public spaces.
We apply a public health approach to address community and structural conditions and the root causes of violence, supporting safety as the basis for health and wellbeing.
We promote mental health and wellbeing by strengthening the social and structural conditions that create hope, belonging, dignity, and safety, reducing chronic stress and supporting community resilience.
We work across the full prevention continuum, considering what must be prevented and what must be created, to establish the community conditions for vibrant behavioral health.
