Systems of Prevention & Health Equity
Well-designed systems are shaped by prevention and health equity and support thriving communities by strengthening the foundations of collective health, safety, and wellbeing. When designed with intention, systems of prevention and health equity interrupt long-standing harms while transforming the policies, practices, and procedures that produce inequities.
Our approach leverages the connections across systems to strengthen prevention-focused and equity-centered policies, practices, and resource decisions. We work with partners to imagine what equitable systems could look like, develop shared visions, elevate community voice and leadership, and align action across local, state, and national systems. This includes bridging governmental and nongovernmental public health institutions, social and racial justice–rooted organizations, and community partners. We advance the essential elements of a system of prevention and health equity by supporting cross-sector collaboration, cultivating a prevention workforce grounded in social justice, strengthening the case for prevention, and uplifting evidence and stories that guide change. We also expand narrative power by amplifying community-centered stories of abundance, interdependence, and dignity.
Our work contributes to systems and structures that support equitable community conditions and strengthens collective capacity to redesign systems for prevention and health equity. Through community practice, storytelling and narrative change, and cross-sector partnership, we help move systems toward a future where equitable health, safety, and wellbeing are the expected outcomes of how systems function.
