Physical Activity Strategy Technical Assistance Provider for CDC’s Nutrition and Activity Recipients

Delivering tailored technical assistance to sustain physical activity strategies nationwide

This project provides specialized technical assistance to recipients of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s SPAN, HOP, and REACH programs, with our team serving as a Physical Activity Strategy Technical Assistance Provider. In this role, we deliver tailored, timely support to help recipients strengthen and sustain physical activity strategies that are embedded in local systems, partnerships, and community practice. Building on prior technical assistance supporting nutrition and physical activity initiatives, this work helps communities maintain effective coalitions and ensure physical activity strategies endure beyond initial implementation.

We support coalition governance, leadership transitions, funding diversification, and the long-term maintenance of policies, partnerships, and built environment improvements that promote physical activity. Through customized technical assistance and peer learning, this work strengthens collaboration across CDC programs and supports continued access to parks, green space, transportation, and other community conditions that encourage physical activity. This project runs from October 2025 to September 2026.

Primary activities:

  • Providing tailored coaching and site-based technical assistance to SPAN, HOP, and REACH recipients, with a focus on sustaining physical activity strategies.

  • Delivering interactive trainings and web-based learning sessions on sustaining partnerships, maintaining policies, and embedding physical activity strategies into organizational and community practice.

  • Providing guidance on maintaining built environment, transportation, and green space improvements that support physical activity.
