Elevated upstream strategies to advance safety through trainings and webinars.

PI elevated strategies to integrate upstream approaches to violence prevention and safety through a variety of in-person and virtual learning spaces.

• We hosted a webinar, The Promise of Cost of Gun Violence Studies in California: Findings and Lessons from Santa Clara County’s 2022 Report, with Hope and Heal Fund and the Santa Clara County Health Department (SCCHD). With attendees from health departments, community-based organizations, and advocates from across the country, we highlighted SCCHD’s research approach and offered guidance to health departments interested in pursuing similar efforts.
• We partnered with RTI International and the Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention to identify and train Milwaukee resident leaders to understand the connections between trauma, violence, and community organizing using PI’s Adverse Community Experiences and Resilience Train-the-Trainer curriculum. PI worked with RTI and other partners to publish and disseminate approaches through a protocol paper, Resilience-Informed Community Violence Prevention and Community Organizing Strategies for Implementation.
• We facilitated two webinars, Cultivating Community Leadership & Power within Ecosystems for Safety Session 1 and Session 2 alongside PreventConnect. These sessions supported U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grantees and the broader field in learning about community leadership and power-sharing within an ecosystem approach to sexual and domestic violence prevention.
• We presented the keynote and a workshop at the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault and New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Primary Prevention Summit, supporting 200 CDC grantees and partners advancing health equity approaches to sexual and domestic violence prevention, with a focus on housing justice and community narratives for safety, equity, healing, and joy.
