Launched a new community of practice to increase equitable access to parks and open space.

People, Parks, Power (People, Parks, and Power: A National Initiative for Green Space, Health Equity, and Racial Justice) is the first national initiative in the U.S. to support power building to advance park and green space equity by centering the leadership of Black, Latino, and Indigenous community-based organizations. The People, Parks, and Power: A National Initiative for Green Space, Health Equity, and Racial Justice cohort represents a $12 million investment in support of 14 community-based organizations and groups across the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico to increase park equity through local advocacy and systems change. These dynamic organizations are making connections between park equity and other pressing community issues—affordable housing, climate resilience, COVID-19 recovery, environmental justice, farmworker rights, food security, Indigenous sovereignty, racial justice, safety, and youth engagement—to develop meaningful solutions tailored to their communities. We also launched the People, Parks, and Power: A National Initiative for Green Space, Health Equity, and Racial Justice National Network to share news, reports, and funding opportunities with individuals and groups interested in park equity, racial justice, and health equity.
