Kalia Pannell is a Community Impact & Engagement Specialist for Prevention Institute. Kalia received her master's degree in public health from the UT Health School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences and a certificate in Health Disparities. Working out of Houston, TX, she began her public health career with a focus on engagement and advocacy within vulnerable communities, including understanding the needs and opportunities available for recently incarcerated individuals and survivors of human trafficking to improve their mental health and wellbeing. In her current role, Kalia is focused on identifying and facilitating training and capacity-building opportunities for community members, youth, and service providers, as well as assessing best practices for sustaining community-based movements. Kalia's current interests include mental health and community wellbeing, racial justice, and research and evaluation.
