Partnered with the Big Cities Health Coalition to center racial justice in public health efforts.

In collaboration with Big Cities Health Coalition (BCHC), we released a report, Centering Racial Justice to Strengthen the Public Health Ecosystem: Lessons from COVID-19, and a video that challenges the public health field to recommit to transformational change rooted in equity and racial justice. We offered concrete strategies and recommendations for leaving “business as usual” behind and fully reigniting and operationalizing racial justice commitments and actions. With BCHC, we also launched Advancing Racial Justice for Health: Operationalizing Racism as a Public Health Crisis in Big City Health Departments to better position health departments to partner with and implement the racial justice policy and practice priorities of community-based organizations and networks. The planning phase of this project analyzed actions, resources, and capacity needs following declarations of racism as a public health crisis.
