Advancing Community Engagement in Medi-Cal Community Reinvestment Implementation — Webinar
On June 16, 2026 Prevention Institute co-hosted a webinar to review Medi-Cal’s new Community Reinvestment policy and introduce a new project to catalyze community-driven reinvestment planning. Staring in 2026, Managed Care Plans (MCP) are required to reinvest a portion of their net income back toward local health strategies. The true success of this mandate will depend on community leadership to identify needs, shape priorities and determine reinvestments. Viewers will learn key details about the new policy from DHCS staff, strategies for how to engage and build capacity amongst partners and collaboratives, and on-the-ground perspectives of partners who are engaging in local reinvestment efforts. Speakers include Hope Neighbor of the DHCS Population Health Management Division, Mayra Alvarez of The Children’s Partnership, Zara Perts-Nash of Health Equity Rising and Chris Stoner-Mertz.
