Hosted Lessons Along the Journey: Taking Action Toward Racial Justice in Public Health Systems to share our health equity and racial justice journey with other public health practitioners.

In our three-part virtual learning series, Lessons Along the Journey: Taking Action Toward Racial Justice in Public Health Systems, we reflected on the evolution of racial justice in PI’s work and the public health sector, through frank discussions with public health practitioners from around the country. PI staff discussed themes like the role of public health in social justice movements; cultivating stronger community-based partnerships and power sharing; and the importance of adopting a narrative transformation strategy to advance policy and systems change for racial justice and health equity. The series reinforced our understanding that creating spaces for shared learning around racial justice supports practitioners—especially those in large public agencies—and acknowledges the challenges and strategies that emerge when centering racial justice and equity in the public health field. We hope that sharing our journey and lessons in real time encourages others in the public health field to remain committed to growing their contributions and sustaining both the work and the leaders of health equity and racial justice efforts.
