Community Protective Factors
Community Protective Factors
January–March 2026 Advocacy Highlights
We joined partners to advance investments that strengthen community conditions and support long-term stability. This included supporting policies that strengthen access to care and address rising healthcare costs. We supported housing stability and access to federal assistance by opposing policies that would restrict eligibility for families and limit access to federally supported housing.
2025 Advocacy Highlights
During budget reconciliation debates, we advocated for policies that protect access to healthcare, housing stability, food security, and economic supports. We urged Congress to protect access to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, strongly opposing proposals such as work requirements, benefit restrictions, and funding caps that destabilize coverage for children and families. We also supported actions expanding access to care, opposed harmful Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program reductions, and advanced housing stability by defending tenant protections, Housing and Urban Development capacity, and fair housing rules. In addition, we joined letters opposing administrative and legislative efforts that would restrict benefits and program eligibility or shift costs to states, reinforcing the essential role of the social safety net in promoting health and economic stability.
