Leveraging Collaboration to End Domestic Violence is a California program that strengthens and sustains collaboratives focused on preventing and responding to domestic violence (DV) through community-driven culture and systems changes.
From 2018-2022, Leveraging Collaboration to End Domestic Violence was a Blue Shield of California Foundation led initiative, and Prevention Institute was a member of the technical assistance and coaching team. In April 2023, Prevention Institute started as an intermediary for the Foundation and now provides tailored coaching and Learning Community support to the participating collaboratives.
The three collaboratives are:
-
Healthy Black Families Collaborative, led by WEAVE, in Sacramento
-
Contra Costa Family Violence Prevention Coalition, led by the Alliance to End Abuse and Family Justice Center, in Contra Costa County
-
California Hmong Advocates Network and Building Our Future (CHAN-BOF), in Sacramento, Merced, and Fresno counties
From 2023-2024, Prevention Institute will plan, deliver, and document tailored coaching and Learning Community activities. The core themes for the 2023-2024 year are to: 1) strengthen collective understanding of the root causes of domestic violence and strategies to influence them; 2) lean into community-driven culture and systems change to address the root causes of domestic violence; and, 3) build community-power and strong collaboratives.
In addition, the collaboratives and Prevention Institute will explore opportunities to weave together the strengths of the Leveraging Collaboration to End Domestic Violence Learning Community with Safety Through Connection, another Learning Community that Prevention Institute stewards, to co-create a robust learning environment rooted in growth mindsets and shared leadership.
This program is stewarded by Prevention Institute with funding from Blue Shield of California Foundation. Staff from both entities participate in the Learning Community as co-learners who practice sharing power and play specific roles in the program.
